Pairadocs is a podcast with a Christian take on life, family, and culture. Jimmy and Josh will provide marriage and parenting insight, to be sure.  However, don't be suprised if other topics emerge,  such as sports, entertainment, politics, or the latest episode of Pioneer Woman - we have way too many women in our lives!

Listen in as Jimmy and Josh discuss Dr. Madeline Levine’s new book, The Price of Privilege: How Parental Pressure and Material Advantage are Creating a Generation of Disconnected and Unhappy Kids.  You would think that it would be great for a kid to grow up in a home where all his needs are met, parents are focused and involved, and he’s provided with the best educational experience out there…but apparently, you’d be wrong.  We’re learning that the more a child is given in life, the more toxic that life can become.

Emerson Eggerichs, sits down with the guys this week to discuss his new book, The 4 Wills of God: The Way He Directs Our Steps and Frees Us to Direct Our Own.  Most of us know Emerson from his best-selling book Love and Respect, but in his latest book, he delves into the mystery of knowing God’s will for your life.  BTW, it ain’t as mysterious as you may think!

If Josh and Jimmy could share one thing with struggling anxious parents it would be, “Relax!  You’re not going to screw up your kids!”  You know why grandparents make such great parents now?  They tend not to sweat the small stuff, and a lifetime of parenting has taught them that most things are small stuff.  If you love your kids and try to be the best parent you can be…take a deep breath and chill.  They’re going to be okay.  This whole parenting thing may kill you, but your kids are going to be okay.

This week, Josh sits down with Johnny Baker who is the Celebrate Recovery pastor at Saddleback church in California (where CR got started BTW) and national director of Celebrate Recovery about his brand-new book, The Road to Freedom.  So if you struggle with any type of hurt, hang-up, or habit…this interview is for you.

This week Jimmy and Josh discuss their road to success, including how they recently were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize…oh, okay.  So that’s actually not what they are discussing. Instead, they will probe the topic of Rigorous Honesty within the family.  They will unpack this issue and emphasize just how important honesty is in all our relationships.  BUT, when it comes to honesty, is it possible to have too much of a good thing?  Listen in to find out.

This week the boys sit down with Stephen Grcevich to discuss his latest book, Mental Health and the Church: A Ministry Handbook for Including Children and Adults ADHD, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, and Other Common Mental Health Conditions.  Come on, any book with a title that long has got to be great!  Right?!  Give a listen, because chances are you or someone close to you suffers from some type of mental/emotional difficulty.  This book discusses not only how to minister to them, but how to include them in what God is doing at your church.

This week Jimmy and Josh piggy back off of their discussion with Sam Ponder about the sexism that she experienced while being a lone female in an industry that is all but exclusively male.  That got the guys thinking about sexism within the Christian community.  Is it real, or are some people simply making much ado about nothing?  Has the traditional protestant doctrine of women can’t be pastors and wives are to submit to their husbands opened the door to sexual discrimination that many of us don’t even notice?  Listen in!  If you’re a guy or you’re a gal, I’m sure both sexes will be equally angry at us by the time the episode concludes!

This week we kickoff the 2nd half of the 2018 season of Pairadocs, with the boys sitting down with Sam Ponder.  For several years, Sam was one of the hosts of ESPN College Gameday, and most recently is now the host for ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown.  She’s a gregarious believer, married to an ex-NFL quarterback, and is in front of millions of people a week talking about pro football.  She maybe the most perfect female alive on the planet!!!  Sam’s an amazing woman with an amazing platform with which to share her faith in Christ. Not a shabby way to lead off the fall of 2018!
